Our Story:
Coaster is an indie rock/pop band based in East Lansing, Michigan, known for blending catchy hooks with dynamic instrumentation and an energetic, crowd-driven live presence. Formed within the local college scene, the band quickly found its footing through a shared love of indie melodies, rock energy, and creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and electric.
Starting as a joke on the State News, Coaster has developed a cult following through East Lansing, supported by the public of Michigan State.
From their earliest shows, coaster built a following the grassroots way—playing house parties and DIY spaces where their “backyard feel” became a defining part of their identity. That same energy has carried into larger stages, including performances at Dublin Square, Harper’s Brewpub, and Mash in East Lansing, where the band has continued to grow its audience and reputation. Because of their audience and on-stage presence, Coaster was invited on WKAR’s series “Streetlight Sessions” where upcoming artists perform original music within a creative setting.
Musically, coaster bridges indie rock edge with pop accessibility, delivering original songs that are both memorable and high-energy. Their live sets emphasize connection and atmosphere as much as sound, turning every performance into a shared experience rather than just a show.
With consistent performances and steadily growing buzz across the East Lansing scene, coaster is now focused on expanding its reach, developing new music, and bringing its signature live energy to wider audiences. As their momentum builds, the band is quickly establishing itself as a standout act in Michigan’s emerging indie scene.
